Summer Time Feeling

The coldness has been fierce this winter. And although I have not experienced any bitter chill here in Southern California… I know a lot of my midwest/east coast friends and family have been suffering! In this post I wanted to acknowledge your pain and send some summer heat your way.

This past year, as followers know, has been a time for digging in the archives. This semester I entered into my graduate exam season, and all of the reading and stressing has had me desperate for creative outlets that will not take too much time away from studying. Revisiting old film and rethinking previous art projects has been the perfect middle ground for getting my creative fix while also being realistic about taking on new work.

These images are part of a photo shoot the amazing photographer/model Brittany Vrana and I collaborated on. Braving the Kansas City heat of summer 2010, she and I shot in triple digit temps and some serious humidity. In the future I may post more images from this shoot. We shall see. But for now, I give you the lovely Brittany Vrana and some summer time heat in the midst of winter 2014.

My New Website

Preview Website

FINALLY!!! I have pushed the “publish” button for real on my new website: www.mixedmediamethodology.com

This site along with many other developing components seeks to continue building a platform to engage “mixed media” as a critical methodology.  A place for art and visual exploration, but also for scholarship. This is another space for me to push art/art-making as a way of knowing, a way of theorizing and understanding the world in which we live in. From the most basic/seemingly simplistic paintings and photographs to more complex collage and collaborative pieces, this collection of sites, works, and thoughts is my initial attempts to facilitate viewing and dialogue around my own work and larger themes within various art worlds.
